News Article Date:
Friday, 5 June 2020
Warrnambool businesses are being encouraged to consider applying for a grant of up to $3000 through a new Council business support fund.

“The Business Initiatives Grants (BIG) program is aimed at helping businesses recover from the impact of COVID-19,” Warrnambool Mayor Cr Tony Herbert said.

“The BIG program will support initiatives from businesses that achieve either growth, business collaboration or an entrepreneurial effort that benefits both the business and the community.

“To maximise the benefits from the program the guidelines include a requirement for funding to be spent locally, where possible.”

The program focuses on businesses most affected during the pandemic including those from the following sectors:
Retail
Hospitality
Automotive - Servicing & Sales
Personal Services
Accommodation Services
Leisure and Recreation
Professional Home Improvement Services

“We’re pleased to be able to offer this support to businesses,” Cr Herbert said.

“Our draft 2020-2021 Budget proposes a $1.95 million package of measures which are aimed at supporting the community through the COVID-19 pandemic.”
