Businesses invited to have their say on COVID-19 support plan

News Article Date:
Tuesday, 9 June 2020

Warrnambool City Council will run a series of sessions with local businesses to help determine what support would be the most useful to aid in the recovery from COVID-19.

Council pledged $1.951 million for community and business support in its 2020/2021 budget, including $450,000 for a Community and Business Support and Stimulus Fund.

Warrnambool Mayor Tony Herbert encouraged as many businesses as possible to take part.

“We want to make sure our efforts to help businesses recover from COVID-19 are as effective as possible,” he said.

“Should we do more marketing to encourage people to support their favourite local businesses? Should we provide more access to mentoring and professional development opportunities? Should we offer more financial assistance to businesses?

“Our COVID-19 Business Support Plan includes all of these things and more, but we need the input of our local business community to make sure we get the balance right as well as to suggest any other initiatives they think could be valuable.

“We’ll be holding online sessions where we explain some of our proposals as part of our COVID-19 Business Support Plan while encouraging all businesses to share their feedback on what they’d like to see implemented in the short, medium and long term.”

Webinar dates and times:
Tuesday – June 16 at 3pm
