Liebig Street Block Party

There’s a Block Party on in Liebig Street and everyone is invited!

The event is on Sunday November 5 from 11am - 3.30pm.

Come and see how Liebig Street is being transformed while enjoying free family activities (including a live DJ, touch-a-truck, face painting, and Tradie Town) and checking out the great specials businesses will be offering throughout the day.

The outdoor food court will have more lunch and snack options than you can shake a fork at, and be sure to cheer on Dennington resident Zoe Pennings as she takes her chance in the $1 million draw.

“For those who haven’t yet had a close look at the work we invite you to come down and see how Liebig Street is being transformed as a result of the renewal,” Council Placemaking Officer Helen Sheedy said.

“We’ve had really positive feedback on the bluestone paving, which is local basalt, and the addition of the trees and the garden bed plantings have given the street a real lift.

“People can look forward to some more key pieces of street furniture, feature lighting and some great public art.

“Right now though, the renewal has created a massive difference in the feel of the two blocks of Liebig Street.
It’s much more a place for people. It’s easier to walk around whether you’re a parent with a pram or someone with mobility challenges.

“And there is a wider footpath for traders to use for outdoor dining or for showcasing some of their wares.”

In order to set up the party and ensure the safety of those attending Council will close Liebig Street to vehicle traffic between Koroit Street and Raglan Parade from 7am until 7pm on the day.
